ROY
Roy is a bright, honest 17-year-old student currently in 11th grade at one of the top schools in Meru, Kenya. Known for his responsibility and dedication, he actively contributes both at school and at home. His passion for agriculture is unmatched, making it one of his favourite subjects and a field he plans to pursue in the future.
Roy was abandoned at birth by his biological father. He was raised by a resilient mother who struggled to provide for him and his siblings under very difficult circumstances. With limited options, she returned to her mother’s home, relying on relatives and taking on casual work to survive. She remarried, however, her new husband refused to support children who were not his own, leaving Roy and his brother at risk of dropping out of school.
Roy got another chance when he received a sponsorship from CLCL, in 2017. This support lifted the heavy burden of uncertainty from his family, ensuring he no longer had to worry about hunger, relocation, worn-out uniforms, or dropping out of school due to lack of school fees. Sponsorship restored dignity and hope, not only for Roy but for his entire family.
Sadly, Roy lost his sponsor earlier this year, putting his progress at risk. He needs a sponsor who will help him complete his education for him to pursue his passion for agriculture and help secure his future.
Roy is determined to work hard and succeed. All he needs is someone willing to stand with him.
